"As a candidate with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Biology and a Master of Science in Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology, I have built my career at the intersection of science, service, and humanity.
My background in forensic science has instilled in me a deep commitment to scientific inquiry, meticulous investigation, and evidence-based problem-solving — approaching every challenge with curiosity, integrity, and an unwavering pursuit of the truth. You can count on me to ask the right questions, examine the facts, and follow the science.
As a health coach specializing in supporting people living with neurological conditions, I have also had the privilege of helping individuals navigate complex health challenges with compassion, patience, and evidence-informed guidance. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, especially during life's most challenging moments.

Real Talk: What exactly is a coroner and what do they do?
A coroner is an elected or appointed official responsible for investigating sudden, violent, or unexplained deaths. Unlike medical examiners, coroners do not always need a medical degree. Instead, they serve as administrative and legal coordinators who work alongside law enforcement and forensic specialists to uncover the truth behind a person's passing.
When a suspicious death occurs, the coroner takes legal custody of the body and secures the scene. Their main responsibility is to determine both the cause of death —the specific medical reason a person died — and the manner of death, which categorizes the event as natural, accidental, suicide, homicide, or undetermined. To achieve this, coroners order autopsies, request toxicology reports, and interview witnesses, as appropriate and applicable.
Once the investigation concludes, coroners identify the deceased, notify the next of kin, and sign the official death certificate. They also manage the legal chain of custody for the person's belongings and frequently testify as expert witnesses in criminal court cases.
Ultimately, coroners ensure that every unexpected death is thoroughly documented, helping families find closure while providing vital evidence for the justice system.
